Cyclonic Toki

Hand-sourced with intention from Takaka, Mohua, after a cyclone tore open the gravel bars and exposed stone that had sat deep for eons, this Kawakawa Toki carries the deep greens and dark freckles of Cyclone Jade.

The longer slot shifts it from a standard lashing point into a guiding channel — a simple, refined line that mirrors the valleys and waterways of Golden Bay. It gives the piece a sense of direction and allows breath to the form as it works alongside the wearer on their path.

Cyclone Jade reminds us that from chaos comes taonga. When life throws a curveball, there are tools — and moments — that help clear away the debris so the treasure can be found.
