This mesmerising flake of Tangiwai (Bowenite) holds an incredible chatoyancy — its green tones shifting from pale to deep as it moves with the light. One side has been tamed, smoothed to a slick finish that accentuates the play of light. The other remains raw and free, its contours shaped deep within the earth’s body.
