Mohua, Golden Bay, Aotearoa

Carved from Obay Stone — a rare fusion of fuchsite, rutile, kyanite and other minerals — this piece carries deep shifts of green with hints of blue. The faceted top gives it a geometric clarity, leading into a tapered point that feels directional and purposeful.

The shape holds a subtle echo of Te Punga — the anchor — and the guiding presence of the Southern Cross. Its lines feel star-drawn, like a marker in the night sky pointing toward true south.

Drawing from the taurapa — the rear guiding oar of the waka of the gods — this form speaks to alignment and movement forward. A piece that centres direction, balance, and the quiet pull of intuition.

Set on adjustable 4-ply waxed braid.
